“The Sitting Spiritually Bench at Horatio’s Garden is, I think, the most comfortable bench in Glasgow!”
One of the UK's foremost garden designers, James Alexander-Sinclair
Sitting Spiritually are thrilled to announce that we will be delivering a handcrafted Tranquillity Oak garden bench to the wonderful charity, Horatio’s Garden, on a long-term loan.
With the help of prominent landscape designers, Horatio’s create stunning garden spaces in NHS spinal injury centres across the UK.
The bench will find its new home at Horatio’s Garden Scotland in Glasgow— designed by renowned garden designer and RHS judge, James Alexander-Sinclair.
Opened in 2016, at The Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit, James created a multi-sectioned outdoor space which is designed to stimulate the primary senses of sight, smell, taste and touch.
The new two-seater bench, with personalised Horatio’s Garden inscription, will be placed in the hospital's Woodland Garden; a vibrant space in view of the main wards, rich with elegant silver birch and plenty of colourful flowerbeds.
The seasoned-oak Tranquillity garden bench will begin life radiating a warm golden colour that, over time, will weather into soft silver—blending perfectly into the natural surroundings of James Alexander-Sinclair’s Woodland Garden. Patients will be able to sit in peace, absorbing all the sensory magic that nature has to offer.
“Horatio’s Garden is a marvelous charity, and it’s our great pleasure to be able to contribute to their inspirational efforts. We hope this unique bench provides a source of peace and solace to the patients at The Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit’ in Glasgow.” Sitting Spiritually founder Martin Young
