Summer at RHS Garden Harlow Carr
by Katherine Musgrove
Well since last time I wrote - we have recently completed a new scheme of rock work and beds, all designed to help the flow of water through the gardens. Hard to imagine when the sun is shining brightly and everyone is mopping their brows with the heat. But here at RHS Garden Harlow Carr we have tremendous problems with flooding at certain times of the year. The gardens are long and V shaped so when we get heavy rain and lots of it we have to contend with flooding. The new scheme we have put into place is designed to help manage this flow and keep the extra water where it should be –not eroding our paths.
The work was completed by our clever in house garden team who it seems can turn their hands to hard landscaping effortlessly and now the hard work of planting comes to the fore. The structure is getting there and very soon it will be hard to imagine what it was like before the work started. I think if you can manage to visit us you’ll agree it’s a big enhancement on what was there before and looks a fabulous addition to our ever evolving garden.
Visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr, where you will also find our swing seats.....
