Our Team have all been with us for over 15 years, testament to our commitment to them & them to us.
Sometimes unbeknown to us, they have their funny quirky ways and we thought you’d like this one!
James Amato, our swing seat maker, has a much bigger workshop than Neil Lancaster, our rope swing maker, and James’s equipment is understandably more sophisticated. They’ve known each other a long time and have a harmonious friendship.
Neil had taken to asking James to cut for him the oak for the under battens that he uses in the construction of our rope swings. Neil had also taken to dropping in on James on Axminster Market Day, with tasty cheeses from Mercato Italiano who have a stall in the market each Thursday.
Neil and James decided between themselves that really James should receive some sort of payment for the cutting work he does for Neil, and a barter was struck, James would be paid in cheese!!
So that, cheese lovers, is what now occurs, some timber cutting in exchange for some delicious Italian cheeses often shared together on the workbench (obviously with a name like James Amato these Italian delights are close to his roots).
Today’s offerings were a particularly delicious Taleggio and a runny and ripe Gorgonzola Dolce
Martin had no idea until recently that this went on, and it tickled him enormously so we thought we’d share it with you here.
