WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO
All the Main Show Gardens have the ability to make people gasp, but we think these will be extra special….
Chris Beardshaw’s RNLI Garden
Being based at Lyme Regis, we’re always interested in things to do with the sea, and especially our amazing RNLI, so Chris’s planting scheme, timbers, Purbeck Stone and Whichford Pottery Urns should all come together to create a pretty special garden.
Juliet Sargeant’s New Blue Peter Garden – Discover Soil
This is a garden celebrating the wonders of soil and its role in supporting life. This is a show garden with a strong message which after Chelsea will be transported in its entirety to RHS Bridgewater. It especially encourages children to get involved with gardening, and for us this is a big message.
Joe Swift’s BBC Studios Our Green Planet & RHS Bee Garden
BBC Earth and the RHS have partnered with Joe Swift to bring you the BBC Studios Our Green Planet and RHS Bee Garden, which aims to help and inspire people to grow bee-friendly plants and encourage people to think of the power of plants to help our precious pollinators. This is something that is very dear to our hearts in the Sitting Spiritually Garden, with many different British wild bees in decline and a threat of some species being lost from Britain altogether, Joe Swift’s garden highlights that solitary and other rare bees need our urgent help.
Gardener’s Question Time Anniversary
Matthew Wilson is designing this exhibit to mark the 75th Anniversary of the ever popular BBC Radio 4 programme. He himself has been with GQT now for 13 years so is excellently placed to mark the history of the show & show how tastes in gardening have changed. Other panelists have also been asked to lend an artefact that is significant to them. They will also be looking at how their demographic has changed a lot in the past two years, and how their audience has become younger. We think this is going to be a really thought provoking exhibit and one that people will love. We’re also thrilled that Matthew spoke to us recently for our Have A Seat With Series, which you can read here
